About

Specialists in the years before the sale.

We exist to help business owners think clearly about their exit long before they enter the market — when there is still time to shape the outcome.

Why we exist

Most owners only begin thinking seriously about their exit when an offer arrives, their health changes or fatigue sets in. By then, many of the most valuable options have narrowed. We focus on the one to five years beforehand.

How we work

  • Independent, practical guidance on retirement, succession and exit routes
  • Free diagnostic tools to understand readiness and owner dependence
  • An experienced adviser conversation before any specialist valuation or transaction support is agreed
  • Close collaboration with your existing accountant, solicitor and wealth adviser

ExitPlanning specialist support

Experience behind ExitPlanning.co.uk

ExitPlanning.co.uk is operated by Exit Partners Limited and led by Tony Vaughan, who has more than 30 years' commercial experience and has worked with UK SME owners on business sales since 2010. Tony has personally completed more than 150 SME business sales.

That transaction experience shapes how we approach exit planning. We know from completed sales what buyers examine, what can undermine value or delay a transaction, and which issues are better addressed years before an owner goes to market.

But ExitPlanning.co.uk is not built around one individual.

Depending on the circumstances, we can draw on a wider network of experienced advisers, specialists and former business owners to support areas such as succession, management readiness, business value, ownership transition and preparation for sale.

We also work alongside an owner's existing professional advisers. Accountants, solicitors, wealth advisers and other advisers can remain closely involved while we provide specialist exit-planning and, where appropriate, transaction capability.

Specialist support without replacing your existing advisers

Exit planning often crosses several disciplines. Our role is not to replace trusted advisers unnecessarily, but to help coordinate the commercial preparation of the business and bring in appropriate expertise when required.

Our Approved Adviser Partner programme is designed for professional advisers to work alongside ExitPlanning.co.uk while retaining their existing client relationship. Applications opening soon.

Planning informed by real transactions

Our approach is grounded in what happens when businesses actually reach buyers, due diligence and negotiation.

That means concentrating on the issues that can make a meaningful difference to an eventual exit: owner dependency, management depth, financial quality, contracts, customer concentration, business systems, succession, realistic value expectations and the owner's preferred route and timetable.
